Pic Taken 17/08/2019 ) - A mum has revealed how she feeds a family of 10 for 150 a week - and is the queen of the fakeaway. Caroline Barnett, 45, says her meal plans for each week are like a military exercise and that shes able to save thousands of pounds each year through her thrifty tricks. The mum-of-eight lives with her husband John, 46, and children Ellena, 21, Joshua, 18, Daniel, 15, Finlay, 11, Henry, 10, Sophia, 8, Florence, 6, and Emilia, 2, at the family home in Evesham, Worcs. Supermum Caroline cooks everything from delicious takeaway favourites to lunchbox staples - like sausage and egg McMuffins, Nandos-style chicken and cakes - entirely from scratch using healthy ingredients and never buys ready meals or pre-prepared food from the shops. She keeps costs down by planing each weeks menu meticulously, making her own bread and cakes and saves time on washing up by giving each one of her eight offspring their own role in tidying up after dinner. - SEE CATERS COPY - //CATERSNEWSAGENCY_CATERS_QUEEN_OF_FAKEAWAY_05/1908191644/Credit:CATERS/SIPA/1908191649

Sonia Hill, 41, from Calne in Wiltshire, UK, said: ÒI really enjoy macro photography and when I saw the damselfly move behind the stem I thought there would be a fun image to get here!Ó Sonia explained: ÒIÕve attempted to get a Ôhide and seekÕ picture a few times before, but this is the first time IÕve been happy with the result.Ó The dark spots on the insects compound eyes are called pseudopupils and they are an optical illusion. Compound eyes are made of many ommatidia, the photoreceptor cells that make up an insects eye. RHINO GETS A CAT SCAN 08/16/2019 CATERS/SIPA Pic from Caters News - (Pictured: The vets at the Chicago Zoological Society helping Layla the rhino) - How do you help a rhino with a blocked nose? With great difficulty, it appears - but a team of vets have released a series of images charting this enormous rhinos difficult journey to breathing easily. Layla, an eight-year-old eastern black rhinoceros, was struggling to breathe, and vets at the Chicago Zoological Society were determined to discover the cause of her blocked nose. But finding out what causes a rhinos blocked nose is not easy - and a team of vets managed to perform a groundbreaking CAT scan on 164 stone, 12 foot long Layla- the first ever performed on a rhinoceros. The zoo is one of the only ones in the world to have its own CAT scanner - but staff faced difficulties when they realised Layla was too large to be moved inside the zoos animal hospital. Instead, vets planned to bring in a portable scanner to the zoos pachyderm house - where 40 members of staff went about transporting Layla to the scanner. Images revealed that Layla had an impacted, unerupted molar that was causing a nasal obstruction. As rhinos have difficulty breathing through their mouths, an obstruction in their nose would have proved fatal in the wild. Alongside finding the source of her problem, the CAT scan also allowed the team to establish the extent of the infection which helped determine the best surgical approach for removing the infected tissue. The surgery, which was carried out by veterinary staff and three doctors, saw the removal of the molar from Laylas mouth. Colourful Carpets 08/15/2019 Seyit Konyali/Solent News/SIPA Pictured: Hand woven carpets are laid out to dry in the baking sun in Turkey. Tens of thousands of hand-woven carpets create a colourful patchwork on the horizon below crooked mountains. As they are flipped by attendants, the freshly washed carpets ripple in the wind before being laid out to dry in Turkey. Turkey is famous for its artisan rugs, but before they can be sold at markets, they are taken to the Dšsemealtõ region in Antalya for their colours to be softened as they are baked by the sun. Civil servant and amateur photographer, Seyit Konyali, was mesmerised watching over 20,000 carpets being tended below the blue mountain skyline. SEE OUR COPY FOR MORE. Ben, a 40-year-old male orangutan, had to have an emergency appendectomy performed by surgeons after they noticed that the ape appeared lethargic, uncomfortable and uninterested in his food. After medical treatments did not cure the animal, Ben, who is housed at Brookfield Zoo, underwent an extensive examination where he had blood tests, ultrasounds, CAT scans - which diagnosed him with peritonitis, an inflammation of the peritoneum, and appendicitis, an inflammation of the appendix. Once determining his diagnosis, 15 members of veterinary staff immediately started the five-hour long operation on the primate and removed the ruptured appendix without any complications. - SEE CATERS COPY - //CATERSNEWSAGENCY_cate4010/1908091402/Credit:CATERS/SIPA/1908091403

Wooden Boat Market 08/08/2019 Azim Khan Ronnie/Solent N/SIPA Pictured: Hundreds of small wooden boats are lined up for sale at the largest boat market in Bangladesh as locals prepare for monsoon season by buying transport to travel between villages. Buyers flock from miles around to purchase their own boats at the market so they are prepared for floods which can strike at anytime between June and October. After heavy rainfall it is common for river banks to burst, submerging nearby towns and villages. This means cars and buses become redundant and people are forced to travel by boat. Each of the oars and wooden boats, which range in size between 12ft and 20ft in length, are hand-made by local craftsmen and can be bought for as little as 1800 Bangladeshi taka - the equivalent of £17. The incredible picture was captured by self-confessed storm chaser Danny Stone earlier this year [13 MARCH 2019] as he stood in a sheltered spot across the water from the Sydney Opera House in Circular Quay, New South Wales, Australia. The 30-year-old from Sydney said snapping a perfectly timed lightening shot during a storm had always been a dream of his ever since getting into weather photography seven years ago. While most people were desperate to get indoors, Danny popped on a raincoat, picked up his camera and bravely headed outside in the middle of the ferocious thunderstorm. And the tradesmens fierce determination paid off after he managed to capture this majestic shot of a dramatic bolt of lightning striking the world-famous Sydney Opera House.
